On and Off

On Wednesday afternoon, with no pumpkins on the ground and no guarantee when we might receive them, we decided to cancel the Pumpkin Patch for this year. This was a hard and sad decision to make, because we know how important the Pumpkin Patch is to our surrounding community and the congregation. We look forward to having our best Pumpkin Patch ever in 2021.

Our Fall Plant Sale will still be held next weekend, Saturday, October 24, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday, October 25, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This is another event that combines outreach to the community and opportunity for Christian fellowship. Like the Pumpkin Patch, the Plant Sale brings people to us who we might never encounter otherwise.

We’ll be offering the same quality plants as usual for the home, yard, patio, and garden. The net proceeds from the Plant Sale will go toward youth scholarships for UM Army next summer, M. I. Lewis Social Service Center in Dickinson, and Our Daily Bread, a feeding ministry for homeless persons in Galveston.

This year’s Plant Sale will be extra special. We will be serving as the host for Louisiana’s Dupont Nursery, a leading hibiscus hybridizer. Dupont has chosen our Plant Sale to debut this year’s new hybrid, “Big Papa.” What a great name for a flower debut at a church!

Sign up to work a 2-hour shift below. It’s a great way to scope out the plants you want to buy, spend some time getting to know other church members, and being a real person to other members of our community when we all need that so much.

There’s lots happening in and through our church, even in the midst of this pandemic. Keep reading to learn what’s going on and ways that you can serve.

    God bless,
