Worthy Is the Lamb

Thank you for the cross, Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace

Thank you for this love, Lord
Thank you for the nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I know
Your forgiveness and embrace

Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious

Dear Dickinson First Family and Friends,

Great Easter music is still being written in the 21st century; Worthy is the Lamb is just one powerful example. It was written by composer, pastor, author, wife and mum Darlene Zschech (I write mum because Darlene is Australian). Darlene and her husband Mark are Senior Pastors of Hope Unlimited Church, founded in Central New South Wales and now also in India, the United States, and other parts of Australia. Before founding Hope UC, Darlene was the worship pastor of Hillsong Church for over a decade, a great influence on contemporary Christian music under the Hillsong Music label.

Worthy is the Lamb is a rewording and a retelling of John’s vision of the throne room in heaven in Revelation 5. The Lamb first appears in this chapter, and it is John’s title/descriptor for Christ throughout his letter. According to the thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand residing in heaven, the Lamb is worthy because the Lamb has purchased a people from every tribe and language and people and nation through the Lamb’s blood, sacrifice, death, and love. It’s easy for us to understand that the Lamb is the Christ of Golgotha, crucified for our sins.

This Sunday, our Praise Team and Chancel Choir will sing this “new song” of Christ’s victory for us and all creation. Join us - and the thousands upon thousands and ten thousands times ten thousands - as we worship the Lamb.

God bless,
Jack Matkin
