Jesus Understands Our Pain

"Jesus wept."
—John 11:35
One of the shortest verses in the Bible is “Jesus wept” (John 11:35). I find comfort in that short sentence; knowing my Savior felt an emotion. He is not someone ‘up in the sky’ looking down and observing the world at a distance. He experiences what we experience.
As my family and I are facing tough times regarding a health crisis and family loss this past year, I keep thinking of Jesus and how he knows my thoughts, feelings, and emotions. He became one of us to experience daily living including the joys, the sorrows, and all the emotions in-between. It even made me think of other emotions Jesus has felt as recorded in the Bible.
Jesus laughed.
Jesus begged.
Jesus stewed.
Jesus joked.
Jesus sighed.
Jesus worried.
I know my Savior is there for me, because Jesus understands what I am facing at any given moment. I can go to Him feeling any emotion and pour out my thoughts in good times and bad. AND…I know that God is there for me, holding me in the palm of his hand.
Yes, Jesus wept, sighed, cajoled, and cheered. But, most importantly, Jesus… LOVED. In this Lenten season, I will remember and do the same.

How does knowing that Jesus also wept, laughed, worried, stewed, bring you comfort? How does his ministry in the human form effect your relationship with the Great Almighty?
Daily Action:
Meet someone’s human needs today. Make someone laugh, cook someone a meal, hold someone’s hand, or just be present for someone in need.
