The God of Every Detail

“Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.”

—1 Peter 5:7

For about six years, I made that 30-minute drive to Galveston, 5 to 6 days a week, working at a church there. It became part of my daily rhythm, and over time, those drives turned into my sacred space. I’d spend the whole drive pouring out my prayers, frustrations, and needs, and when I’d finally pull into a spot by the seawall and sit in my car, there was a certain calm in the silence. I had talked non-stop during the drive, but now it was time to just listen. The ocean in front of me stretched on forever, and as I watched the waves roll in, I started to realize how small my worries were in comparison. It was like God was gently reminding me that He was bigger than everything I was carrying, that my problems, no matter how big they felt, were nothing next to His power.

On the mornings I went in before sunrise, I’d sit there in the stillness, watching the first light break across the sky. As the sun slowly began to rise and paint the sky with all those beautiful colors, I’d feel God reminding me how much He cares about the small things. I’d watch the sky shift from dark to light, each color blending together perfectly. It was like a personal reminder that God’s in the details—even in the things that seem tiny or unimportant. If He could create a sunrise like that, surely He’s paying attention to the things on my heart, no matter how small they might seem.

Sitting there, feeling the ocean breeze on my face, I’d start to let go of all the things I had been holding onto. Nothing was too big for God to handle, and nothing was too small for Him to care about. Whether it was something huge or something that felt really small, He had it covered. Looking out at the vast ocean, I could feel the weight of my worries start to lift, and I was reminded that God was both so big and so personal. I could trust Him with everything, no matter what it was. And in those moments of peace, I was reminded again that no matter what, He’s got me.

Personal Reflection:

Write down any worries or burdens you are carrying today. Then, in prayer, release them to God, trusting that He is in control. Reflect on how surrendering these worries changes your mindset.

Daily Action:

Find a practical way to help ease someone else’s burden today—whether by running an errand, offering a kind word, or simply being there for them in a time of need.
